A Bit About Me

My name is Bryan and I am a highly trained professional watchmaker. I started out as a collector, quickly falling in love with the world of horology. I had learned a very little bit about how a watch works so I could simply understand what I was buying better. However, the size of my collection quickly caught up to my passion for watches… perhaps even exceeded it.

In the beginning, I took on watchmaking merely as a way to help offset the cost of the service bills I was paying. At the height of my collection, I had 67 watches and all but 4 were mechanical. For the record, I do not recommend anyone have a collection that large. You can’t really enjoy the pieces that much. It takes forever to cycle through the collection. As it turns out, it was all for the best as it grew my passion for watches even more. So much so that I started to learn clocks as well. If it went tic, I wanted to know more!

I put a lot of work into each and every piece that hits my bench and the owners of those pieces definitely notice and appreciate it.

S

o, I started my journey and really went into a deep dive. I went to any sort of class I could, attended every seminar within a few hours drive of me… and even a few that required a flight. I read every book I could, watch every video on repeat, spent every penny I could on tools and broken movements to practice on. I won’t lie, it wasn’t easy at times. There were many breaking points and even a few near quitting points. But, my desire was too strong to push me away. Want to know something? I wouldn’t have it any other way. I now have the experience and confidence to take on near anything thrown at me. So much so that I left my career as a professional web developer and have made this my life’s work.

Now that I’m here, I truly feel blessed to be here. First, I feel it’s an honor to be able to carry on this craft that is slowly dying. The world needs more watchmakers, but I get it… it’s not an easy thing to do and not many people have the patience for it. So, I feel it’s my duty to represent the people before me by learning all I can and employing that knowledge on every piece I work on. I must have the upmost respect for their work by ensuring I don’t damage it and can preserve the legacy of their work.
